Five unique skills and values
Chris Roycroft-Davis can offer
There are lots of communications consultants – but there’s only one with the unique experience, skills and magic touch of Chris Roycroft-Davis.
ONE: Strategic consultant committed to your success
If you’re investing heavily in a campaign, you need to get your message right. My analytical skills have been honed by three decades of experience as one of Britain’s leading journalists and I know the questions you’ll face from the media. Recently, Nintendo used my skills to perfect their launch of the WiiFit game by defining in crisp, clear terms the vital elements of their new product and training their spokespeople to deliver that message. The result was a super-successful launch that achieved the positive media coverage the client desired.
"For the launch of WiiFit, Chris Roycroft-Davis provided expert advice and practical training in helping us to develop and refine our communications strategy which proved invaluable in the successful launch of the product."
- Rob Saunders, Nintendo UK Director of PRTWO: Media coach connected to your message
The ability to deliver the right message with confidence, impact and precision has never been more important. My expert coaching under real-life conditions puts your spokespeople to the test with the same intensity they will feel in a TV studio or at a press conference. The ability to perform under pressure isn’t something we’re born with but a skill we can acquire and I guarantee results that work. I am retained by Asda as a consultant so that the group achieves the maximum benefit in all dealings with the media.
“There’s little Chris doesn’t know about the workings of the media.”
- Rebekah Wade, Sun Editor
THREE: The smart way of presenting like a pro
Whether it’s a sales pitch, a presentation to a client, a press conference for a product launch or an in-house briefing for colleagues, the people who succeed in business are those who can present with style and power. My own presenting skills are such that I have just been made President of the London chapter of the Professional Speakers Association. I have been called in by major companies like Asda and Kingfisher to help executives present like a pro. If the chief executive needs training before a vital speech or the marketing director needs to ensure her product launch is a success - then I’m the expert you need.
“Chris is a delight to work with on my show. He’s witty and eloquent.”
- Michael Parkinson
FOUR: A fresh pair of eyes that see things very differently
There are plenty of journalists who provide media training and consultancy. But I’m no ordinary journalist and my work demonstrates my unique ability to ally clear strategic thinking with a close understanding of business needs. At The Sun I ran a £60million budget so I know the vital importance of the bottom line. I also wrote an editorial column read by 10 million people a day, so I have the skill to explain complex issues in simple, direct English. Clients like Asda, Nintendo, BAeSystems, George, Kingfisher, Shine, Boyden and many more have seen the real and tangible benefits I have brought to their businesses and the value they have gained from my experience and skills.
“Chris, I’ll never forget your contribution to the ultimate success of Sky Television.”
- Rupert MurdochFIVE: Last piece of the jigsaw - gaining media coverage
Delivering strategies that succeed is a specialised business. My associate Paul Crosbie has worked in national newspapers for 25 years and knows exactly what makes a story that gets big coverage. His experience on four major tabloid papers provides an unrivalled insight into the demands of the media. Contacts built up over the years can prove invaluable to a company looking to boost its profile and promote itself to its customers through the media. Paul currently generates media exposure for clients such as Asda, Woolworth, British Gas, Weight Watchers, Comet, Game Group and William Reed Publishing.Chris Roycroft-Davis
- the story so far!
For more than three decades, I have been at the forefront of the British media. As Executive Editor and chief leader writer of The Sun, Britain’s biggest-selling morning newspaper, I wrote a daily column read by 10 million people.
My work was once described by a Cabinet Minister as “the finest writing since the King James Bible” (OK, maybe he`d had a few) and was essential reading for Prime Ministers and business leaders.
I played a key role in helping Rupert Murdoch with the launch of Sky Television; worked as a speechwriter for David Cameron; broadcast regularly on Michael Parkinson’s Radio 2 show; and have appeared countless times on the BBC, ITV and Sky and on radio stations around the world.
I am highly-skilled at coaching business people in the techniques of being interviewed by TV, radio and Press journalists and in analysing what their business message and media strategy should be. I work as a consultant to many blue-chip companies, advising them on media relations and product launches.
